The Bank is committed to investing in the communities that we serve. One way we help meet the charitable needs of our communities is through donations and event participation. In addition, we encourage all employees to volunteer their individual talents toward the betterment of the communities in which they live.

So that we may give your request full consideration during our annual giving process, please submit donation or sponsorship requests between October 1 and November 30 each year. Other requests will be considered throughout the year as long as funds are still available.

While we would like to support as many causes as possible, inevitably there are times when we have to decline a request.

Donation Mission Statement

The Bank is committed to providing financial support that improves the lives of low-to-moderate income individuals in the communities we serve. In addition, the Bank also provides employees with the opportunity to contribute their individual talents for the betterment of the communities in which they live.

Guidelines

Donations are made to non-profit organizations that are tax-exempt under the IRS 501c3 code providing services benefiting the communities we serve.

Donations are made within several categories that reflect our funding priorities:

  • Affordable housing (including multi-family rental housing) for low or moderate income individuals
  • Community rehabilitation or revitalization programs
  • Small business foundations
  • Employment training programs
  • Economic forums and studies
  • Educational endeavors in the community
  • Health care services provided in the community
  • Cultural enlightenment programs
  • Community services relating to safety issues which are targeted to low or moderate income individuals
  • Activities that revitalize or stabilize low or moderate income geographies

Within these categories and funding guidelines; projects of all non-profit organizations are considered for funding without regard to race, gender, disability, religion, ethnicity, age or sexual orientation.

In addition to the several categories, our funding priorities also include:

  • Grants in communities that are based in or will directly benefit the Bank's delineated community
  • Grants which support the efforts of the Bank's board of directors and employees

Please do not submit funding requests for:

  • Individual needs
  • Membership organizations, unless the project benefits the entire community
  • Travel for individuals or groups
  • Religious organizations, unless the project benefits the entire community

Review Process

The Bank evaluates how the proposed program reflects the Bank's guiding principles and program emphasis in addition to how well the applicant conveys the information requested.

Contribution Procedures

To apply for funding, please prepare a hard-copy proposal, no more than two to three pages in length, which clearly states the following information:

  • Name and address of organization
  • Contact person, title and telephone number
  • Funds requested
  • Geographic area served by organization
  • A description of the project, including objectives, target groups to be served, needs that will be addressed, activities to be undertaken, expected outcomes, current involvement of the Bank's board of directors and employees, and a project timetable. If applicable, describe plans for including Bank volunteers
  • A detailed project budget
  • Plans for evaluating results
  • History of any previous support provided by the Bank

Attachments

  • A copy of IRS 501c3 tax exemption letter
  • Latest audited financial statement
  • Members of the board of directors or similar governing body, including their affiliations
  • Latest annual report; if not available, please describe the organization's mission and most recent accomplishments.
  • Funding sources, including a list of major contributors.

When to Apply

Requests are accepted October 1 through November 30 of each calendar year to facilitate the Bank's annual budgeting process. We realize that unexpected situations occur, requiring financial support. Applications for these events are accepted throughout the year. The Bank maintains a reserve account to respond to these needs, however, funding is limited.
